Getjar have recently announced the launch of their App Download Page, a new service for developers and content owners making it easier for consumers to download services such as the Facebook mobile app on their phone quickly and easily, without fiddly forms or questions to complete.

GetJar has been trialling the service with Facebook, which automatically offers users the correct version of the Facebook mobile app when they log onto www.facebook.com via their mobile, without needing to supply any details such as the phone make or model. Since the trial launched with Facebook the app regularly achieves significant downloads.

App Download Page works by providing mobile developers and content owners with a simple mobile webpage that can be linked to from any mobile site. When the mobile webpage is displayed on a phone, the device is automatically detected and the user is directed to the appropriate version of the partner’s mobile application for their phone located on GetJar. If no application exists, GetJar provides a free Mobile Site Shortcut (MSS), which is a small application that launches any phone’s native Web browser and redirects it to the appropriate mobile site.

Photobucket, the Web’s premier standalone photo and video-sharing site has confirmed that it will be using the service starting this Autumn 2009.

Why is this important? With thousands of different mobile phone makes and models and lots of different operating systems and browsers, large internet brands want to make sure that their users can get the right mobile app quickly and easily. App Download Page is an enabler, allowing brands to get onto consumer handsets without any technical difficulties.

There is so many new mobile phones with each service provider offering a selection of different packages with different “special” offers, free texts, free minutes, free handsets; the simple task of choosing a new mobile phone contract has becomes almost as stressful as selling your house!

In the current economic climate, it’s not just students that are looking at Sim Only offers, but business people not wishing to tie themselves down to long term monthly outgoings.

By not being tied into a 12 month or longer contract you have the freedom to shop around for the best deals; and mobile phone Sim card deals are changing every day.

If you choose to buy a sim card only you can get some very cheap deals as you are not paying for a new mobile phone. This is especially true for anyone coming to the end of their current contract and wish to keep the outgoings as low as possible.

With a Sim Only Contract, you still pay every month but have the assurance and peace of mind that if your financial circumstances change, you have the option to cancel your contract with short notice. This is normally a 30 day period.

There are plenty of mobile phone and best Sim Only contract comparison websites to choose from in the UK.

The www.simonlyoffers.com website is simply to use and regularly updated with offers from the main service providers in the UK.

So if you are not too concerned with the very latest mobile phone model, and you are concerned with making long term financial commitments right now, a Sim card only contract could be right for you.

There are even more websites selling mobile phones than there are mobile shops in every UK high Street. So I was interested to find a UK based mobile phone comparison website.

Lots Of Mobiles is an easy to use site offering a quick and simple way to compare mobile phone deals to both business and personal customers.

By selecting show All Mobile Phones from the main menu, an extensive search results lists mobile phones by make. The list is not in alphabetical order, so I am assuming it is sorted by popularity. The list includes a wide selection from Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, Samsung, LG, Apple, Blackberry, O2, 3, T-mobile, and even less familiar names Neo, HTC, JCB as well as well as Palm tops, though I would assume this list is constantly updated.

There is also an option to search the most popular mobile phones which lists the most popular mobile phones along with the most popular offer, from which supplier, the inclusive minutes and texts, and the cost of the package. This is an excellent search facility which can be filtered by network, contract length, manufacturer, minutes and texts.

For example, if I know I want a Blackberry mobile phone and want to compare the top selling offers, I am able to compare the best deals with ease.

The Lots Of Mobiles website includes a regularly updated news page detailing such useful information as mobile phone deals that offer 12 months free line rental, new mobiles and new services such as Nokia’s XpressMusic.

In summary, if you are not sure who is offering the best mobile phones deals right now, then the Lots Of Mobiles comparison website is a good place to start looking.

There are plenty of mobile phone shops in every High Street in every town in the UK.

Add to this the hundreds of mobile phone business websites and the growth of “white label” sites whereby a handful of suppliers feed hundreds of franchise sites with completely the same stock and offers, it is a rarity to be introduced to a mobile phone website that offers great mobile phone prices, along with something that is more important to me, and that is good customer service.

Get Mobiles offer the latest mobile phones including business mobiles such as the best-selling Apple iPhone and the newest touch screen ‘kid on the block’, the Blackberry Storm.

But as well as the latest mobile phones for business and personal use, Get Phones offer a service to unlock codes on your SIM card, which allows you to use your mobile phone on any network by unlocking your SIM card. This service starts from as little as £2.99.

Other products include mp3 ringtones, mobile games and Java games.

Get Mobiles also offer a good quality mobile phone insurance service which allows you to buy a mobile phone and insure it for peace of mind, all on one website, without leaving the comfort of your living room.
