Firefly Mobile Phone
The Firefly mobile phone for children is to be launched in Britain before the end of 2009 after a reported 7,000 sets have already been sold in Ireland.
Not quite as scary as it sounds, the bright coloured handset has only a limited service, showing a female and a male image, the female to dial mum and the male to dial dad.
However, there is a facility on the mobile to store up to 20 other numbers, which is safeguarded by a PIN to allow parents to control access.
The gadget also features built-in games and a flashlight as well as allowing the child to add their own ringtones and wallpaper and is expected to retail at around £85.
The mobile which has been described as easy enough for a 4-year-old to use, makes one wonder why a young child needs to be contacted by a phone when they should be in the care of their parents, however, it could be used as a safety device if a child does get separated from it’s parents
